Claimant count in St. Helens has steadily increased over the past 6 months. However, the rollout of Universal Credit (one of the indicators forming part of this measure) is more complete in the North West than the rest of England. St. Helens Claimant Count is in line with the North West average. JSA claimants however, have steadily increased since the beginning of the year, whilst regionally and nationally rates have remained fairly static. St. Helens JSA Claimant rate is now 1.5% of the working age population, compared to 1.1% in the North West and 1.0% in England.
