Child obesity data updated for 2016/17

The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) has published the 2016/17 child weight data for local authority areas. The data is available via the Child Weight data table, which can be found in the Health and Social Care theme (under Data and Resources) on this site.

The data shows a marginal improvement for St. Helens children, with the percentage of Reception age children with excess weight (overweight or obese) reducing from 27.5% to 26.9% and the percentage of Year 6 children with excess weight reducing from 39.7% to 38.5%. However, the proportion of obese children in Year 6 has increased from 23.9% to 24.5%.
