Provisional results from the Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES) released on the 27th of September 2018 show strong local employment growth within the Borough. According to BRES data St. Helens recorded the second largest growth rate in employee jobs in the North West, with an additional 4,000 employee jobs created between 2016 and 2017 (figures rounded to the nearest 1,000). According to BRES data there was a 50 / 50 split between full-time and part-time jobs created.

Note – BRES is the official source of employee and employment estimates in the UK and recommended in preference to industry data from other sources such as the Annual Population Survey. BRES data does not include the very small businesses that are not registered for VAT and PAYE.
