The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has published a report on UK poverty in 2018. This annual report examines the nature and scale of UK poverty and the effect of the UK poverty rate on the people gripped by it. Some of the key findings include:
– Child poverty has been rising since 2011/12.
– 4.1 million children are living in poverty; a rise of 500,000 in the last 5 years
– 4 million workers are living in poverty; a rise of 500,000 in the last 5 years
– In-work poverty has risen at a faster rate than employment, driven almost entirely by increasing poverty in working parents.
